Clarification on U.S. P&P3 opening dates

We received some more definitive information from Focus Features about the U.K. and U.S. release dates.
The film will be shown at the Toronto Film Festival in early September, as we previously reported.
U.K. release date remains September 16. (See the post below this one for information on advance screenings.)
U.S. release date is November 18 in selected cities (no information on which cities have been selected as of yet) with additional cities opening on November 23 and more cities nationally on December 2 and 9.
Harry Potter fans in nonselect cities apparently will get a few weeks’ reprieve.

Dorothy, no idea about Canada, unfortunately, other than the Toronto Film Festival. I can’t find a site for Universal Films Canada, which is the Canadian distributor. I did find one for Universal Pictures Canada, but they don’t even have P&P listed as an upcoming film, so I’m not sure if they are the same company.
I looked and I looked and I looked but still no mention at all on release dates in Asia – let alone Malaysia. I hope they haven’t forgotten us here.
Any idea why they pushed the date back for the US? September was far enough away…now November?! Agh!
Today I went on a theatre website for the Cineplex Odeon theatre in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada and it is still identifying the release date as September 23rd. So, maybe, just maybe the release date for Canada is still September 23rd. However, I am not that hopeful since Canadian and American release dates usually are the same.
Lynsey, the theory many of us are having about the release delay in USA is that Focus Features is profiling P&P3 for the Oscars (though they deny it).

About Canada, I bet it’s on Nov. 18 also. We’re almost always the same as USA.
Cantel, I emailed Cineplex Odeon about their coming soon posting of P&P3 which stated the release date was September 23rd. Their representative replied and said that the release date was for the Netherlands, not Canada. In fact, there is no release date for Canada. Furthermore, we would have to email Focus Films and probably request it to be shown in Canada. We might have to wait for the DVD release in the States to order it online.

Dorothy, the guy at Focus Features told me that the film will be distributed in Canada by Universal Films Canada, and I’ve also seen that information in press releases about the film. I would try to contact them for information about Canada.
