Alert Janeite Marybeth wrote to tell us that BBC7 digital radio will be broadcasting a radio play of MANSFIELD PARK, starring Amanda Root. (We have it on tape! It’s pretty good.) The play will be broadcast Monday the 27th to Wednesday the 29th at 10 am, 9 pm and 2 am (GMT we imagine), and you can listen online for up to a week afterward, so make haste!

I have it on tape and I adore it! I only wish Amanda Root had played Fanny on film when she was younger, but then maybe I might not consider her as good an Anne as I thought she made in P2! :)

Yay! I just finished the first episode. I can’t wait for the next ones – and after that, they’re airing Emma and Persuasion. I loved hearing familiar actors – not only Root (who would have made an excellent film Fanny – too bad. Oh, well, have to wait for Andrew Davies’ version to come out in five or so years), but also Michael Williams (from the BBC’s Sherlock Holmes radio drama, and Radio Theatre’s Silas Marner) and Cathy Sara (from Radio Theatre’s The Secret Garden, Silas Marner, and Father Gilbert: Healing). Oooh, stuff to listen to while I do laundry…
