Alert Janeite Laura solved the mystery that she wrote to us about last week: was the President’s ex-wife reading a Jane Austen novel on last week’s episode of 24? Thanks! I saw it and immediately rewound it (much to my husband’s and son’s dismay) because I was sure it was an Austen novel.
Not sure it says much for Austen’s ability to calm and soothe one’s mind.
