Yet more on the zombies

Alert Janeite Cynthia passed along a tidbit from the Guardian, which is properly appalled at this assault of vulgar American sensibilities upon Proper British Icons–but check out the comments. They are HILARIOUS.

Young Zombies in Spats! My week is made
Brilliant!
“Well, It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a dead man in possession of a flesh-eating habit, must be in want of a bullet to the brain.”
Perfect comeback!
What great comments. I suggest that Andrew Davies adapt it, then have everyone try to do away with evil zombie Darcy by having him dive into a pond which they have secretly emptied and filled with Holy Water. Or is that if he’s a vampire? I can’t keep the methods straight.
Hee, I saw mention of this on the EW blog this week (http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/01/pride-prejudice.html) According to them, the first line of the book is “”It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.”
I will definitely read it, and I’d probably read half the titles suggested in the comments section of the Guardian piece.
I thought andie davies was a zombie? no wait it must be his white hair and suntan/burn?
