Tuesday Open Thread: Well, Duh Edition

Standard

Welcome to another Tuesday Open Thread, where we feature links that didn’t quite make the cut for full posts but we thought our readers would still find of interest.

Thomas Hardy makes for better television adaptations than Jane Austen

“I’m really pleased they’re making an adaptation of Tess,” he says. “There’s been an awful lot of Jane Austen recently and, if you take out some of her very objective dry literary wit, Austen actually becomes a sort of Mills and Boon author. You lose her mandarin presence when you just tell the story.”

Emphasis ours–because they always do. Well, almost always.

So what’s new in your patch of Janeiteville?
