More information about New York performance of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice: A Musical

Tickets will be $25 and will go on sale to the public at 12:01 a.m. on September 1. We don’t have dates yet; details are still being firmed up, and we’ll let you know as soon as we do. If there is a big rush for tickets on the first day of sale, a date or two may be added.

You can donate to the show–checks should be made out to NYMF and earmarked for the show and then letters will be issued to those making donations of $100 or more so you can deduct the donation on your taxes. They are also looking for corporate sponsorships. Those who donate over $1,000 will have an earlier opportunity to purchase tickets. You can purchase ad space in the show’s program (B&W) which is then inserted into the (color) festival program, and of course you can purchase ads in the festival program.

Remember the high school production of the musical? At the 5th Avenue Awards in Seattle, Hannah Lake from Edmond Heights k-12 won for best supporting actress for her portrayal of Mrs. Bennet, out of 90 schools in the state of Washington. The playwrights report that “their drama teacher made everyone in the cast read the book and they fell in love with our beloved Jane.” Welcome to Janeiteville, kids!

Don’t forget to “Like” the musical’s Facebook page! It’s fun to read all about the behind-the-scenes stuff going on around the new production.

BREAKING: Pride and Prejudice Musical Finalist in New York Musical Theatre Festival, Will Have New York Production!!!!

We were excited and delighted to receive an e-mail from Amanda Jacobs and Lindsay Baker, the creators of the P&P musical adaptation of which we are so fond, to tell us that they were selected as finalists for the New York Musical Theatre Festival’s Next Link Project–which means the play will be staged as part of the festival! We don’t have dates yet, or much information, but will pass it on as soon as we have it. In the meantime, keep an eye on the play’s page at NYMF (the Buy Tickets link doesn’t work…we checked).
